Discover the WW1 Allied Battlefields

Day 1: Paris – Amiens – Péronne
Arrival in Amiens by train in the late morning. Lunch at own expense, then meet up with your guide.
First we visit the battlefields of the Somme: the numerous military cemeteries*, the monuments, the New Zealand memorial at Longueval but also the preserved trenches, mine craters and other visible traces on the battlefields.
We then head towards Péronne, a small charming city in the heart of the valley.
Dinner and night in Péronne.
* It is possible to ask to visit a specific cemetery

Day 2: Péronne – Ypres
We begin the day with a visit to a castle that dates back to the middle ages, then we explore the WW1 museum at Péronne. In the afternoon journey to Le Quesnoy, a fortified town heroically liberated by New Zealand allied troops in 1918 who used ladders to climb the ramparts. Walk around the ramparts to the memorial and garden dedicated to the New Zealand soldiers. Lunch.
In the evening we reach the splendid Flemish city of Ypres in Belgium with the possibility of attending the Last Post bugle call at the Menin Gate.
Dinner and night in Ypres.
Day 3: Ypres – Amiens – Paris
Discover the allied battlefields of Flanders, visiting places significant to New Zealand such as Messines Ridge, Polygon Wood, Broodseinde, Passchendaele and Tyne Cot, the largest British military cemetery in the world.
Stop for lunch along the way back to Amiens, returning to Amiens by late afternoon. Train to Paris.
