Away with the stress of travel, and into another world of peaceful countryside, riverside castles and ancient villages with medieval churches and exotic markets.
The boats are easy to handle, requiring no licence for the 10 000km of sheltered waterways. You will navigate at a leisurely 5km/hour, covering 120 to 150 km per week, with the possibility of getting on and off to explore on foot and by bicycle, which can be hired as an extra. The modern boats are fully equipped with kitchen, toilet, hot showers, bedding, gas, cruise manual and reliable diesel engines. Hires are on a weekly basis, usually with return to one of the 50 bases, though certain regions permit one way rentals with a surcharge.
Included in the rentals are the lock fees (mostly manned and free) and taxes
Excluded are car parking fees at the base, cancellation insurance, consumables, fuel, security bond and towels.
